Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Last Thursday me and Monique went to the Mickey’s Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.

The night began by me and her debating for a solid 25 min. on what kind of fun hat to get. (I wanted the snowmen hat for me could put our names on the back she wanted a Santa hat) we decided on the snowman hat bc it was more ‘disney’

After debating on which hat to get we went to watch the castle to light up.
They did this right at 6:30 and the performed a little show in front of the castle. (Cinderella wanted the castle to be like her glass slipper.. so the fairy godmother made that happen for her)
Needless to say this was very MAGICAL.
We took lots of photos of this.

After that we started to wonder around getting plenty of the free cookies and hot chocalte they had out.
.. I was very impress with the perfect temperature of the hot chocolate. (Monique thought I was crazy).

We then started to meet some character including some alice and wonderland character, scrooge mcduck, Stitch, Jessie, Woody, etc.. they were all dressed up in winter gear it was cute.

And of course any Disney event doesn’t end with out my chance meeting with snow white. (I’m kind of getting a head of my self but it is exciting)
We were walking around fantasy land and had time to see one last character before the end of the night. Monique was all like who is over there… me being a freak I freaked out and was all like ‘snow white!’
Earlier in the day someone told us belle and the beast was there. (The obviously lied to us)
They cut off the line right behind us. (Needless to say this was the second magical moment of the night.)
Oh and the best part is that the prince was with her.

We also saw a couple of shows one about holidays and the other about the night before Christmas… those are always fun bc characters dress up like other characters. (ex goofy as Santa)

I also meet Santa and he made me sit on his lap with was kind of awkward.. But then again it is Santa… we also got his autograph (very exciting)
He didn’t ask me what I want though... This was a little disappointing.

They also had a parade (obviously) that was very cool. They had every character imaginable all dressed in warm winter clothes.

The Christmas party in conclusion was magical and made me miss home a lot. They sang lots of songs like i’ll be home for Christmas… which would make any more be a little sad when they are stuck in florida for the holidays.

It also snowed on main street (well it was more like foam, but whatev).
The snow was very very very magical and very pretty. I tried taking photos but they didn’t really come out. So you will just have to take my word for it.

PIctures.. let me know if the link doesn't work... it should work even if you don't have facebook

Brown Derby

During the holidays Disney gives us wonderful cast members a book of coupons we can use at various places. There was one coupon that gives you 50 % off at a restaurant in the parks. (and of course it only allows you to go to select restaurants at select times.)

I used a 50 % off at a resort once to eat breakfast at the grand Floridian when Stephanie was here. (to give you an idea of how use full this info is you need to realize that our bill was like 20 something dollars for both of us there after the discount.)

Me and Monique decided to use ours to eat lunch at the Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios.
This restaurant is modeled after the brown derby in LA that in the golden age of Hollywood many celebrities would go to . (I remember watching an I Love Lucy episode once where she went there to eat).

Inside

Pictures on the wall... i guess they are famous people

Our reservations were around 2 and we decided we would do the whole going out to eat at a fancy restaurant thing. Where we ordered sodas, an appetizer, dessert, etc…

I allowed Monique to pick the appetizer since neither one of us had any idea about what anything was. She ordered something bc it had the word Tortillas in it. We ordered it and the waiter was like oh you want the mussels and we both looked at each other and decided we might as well get it and try it.

yum...

When we got the mussels Monique took one bite and spit it out. I ate one and then decided maybe I should try a second one thinking the first one was only bad and thinking it was suppose to be better. We then finished the 3 tortillas on the plate and left the other 7 mussels on the plate.

Luckily our waiter took them off our bill…. Very nice. Especially since we are cast members and he didn’t have to.

I ordered the BBQ chicken and Monique ordered the steak. They we both very delicious.

But the best part was the dessert we ordered the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend it.

And to give you an idea of how much it would normally cost is that we spent 50+ dollars after our discount (including tip) for lunch (for both of us)

Oh and I think mom would appreciate this. Each time they brought us a new coke they gave us a new straw. We felt very important.

Once last thing. To show how fancy this place is we saw all the Disney ambassadors eating lunch at the restaurants at the same time as us.

There are only 2 or 1 ambassador for each park. So there was someone important from walt Disney world, Disneyland, paris, hong kong, etc.

An ambassadors is the spokes person for the park. These ambassadors were the new ones for 2009 and you can only be an ambassador once… it is kind of the ultimate Disney job.

This is also the place that guest tell me they see famous people all the time....

super soap weekend!!

on sat and sunday i worked at soap central which was an area that sold merchandise form all 3 abc soaps..
it had tshirts, photo albums, mugs, outfits, probs, etc.

on saturday there was a line to get into the place and they would let about 5 people in at a time and they had 8 registers to make the check out process easier.

when i got there at 1:30 they had nothing for me to do and told me to stock.. and of course there was nothing new to stock at that point.
i soon decided i would try to sell calenders. we had a "hot guy" calender with the soap stars in it and i opened one up and showed it off all day.

my fav. month was april... very attractive guy. (lucky from general hospital... yeah that is all i know about him)

by the end of the night we no longer had a line so guest could come and go as they pleased. (but of course we didn't have much merchandise either.

on sat. i didn't deal with any too crazy fans but me and a fellow cast member did walk around the streets of america for a bit to see what was going on (we soon found out that the stars were signing autographs and we saw how 'crazy' people get)

i got an ER from work and got to leave at 7. so me and my friend grace went to watch the parade that had the characters in it.

i have never seen hollywood blvd so packed in my life. you could barely even see the street let alone the stars in the cars that were driving by.
after the parade they all went on a stage and all you saw was an insane amount of people ruch the stage (that was set up in front of the hat)
.. it was crazy... poeple were crazy.

i didn't take any photos bc my camera died but grace did so when i get those i will put them up.

on sunday i worked at 4.
when i got there they had me as a door greater (which was my pretty much holding the door open for people).
i also opened up another calender to try to sell them.

.. this time it was a little easier bc everything was 30% off (well beside probs and outfits)

it was also VERY COLD out i had to put hand warmers in my pocket to stay warm.

standing there i got to talk to the fans a little more and find out why they actually come to these events.

my fav was when i would talk to guys and they would say they don't watch them but they are just here bc their wife watches them.

but they could name every guy in the hot guy calender and give me the simple plot outline of the soaps... like so and so had a kid that was stolen or blah blah died.

it was great. (oh i don't know if i have ever said this before but guest tell you WAY to much info when they talk to you... prob bc we are just that awesome!... or maybe i just am)

i got another ER on sunday and decided that working soap weekend was so much fun bc it was easy. bc after a certain time we ran out of everything and you didn't have to go check in the back to see if we had anything.

it was also great bc we could just stand around and talk to other cast members bc there was nothing else to do.

... i also decidedthat i love just talking to guest about there days. which i got to do a lot of this weekend. :)

ABC Super soap weekend

So tomorrow at Hollywood studios is going to be the last abc super soap weekend ever.

For those of you who do not know what this is it is an event where the stars from the ABC soaps. (ex: all my children) will be at the park to sign autographs and meet people.

Basically it is going to be insane.. like stars wars weekends but way worse.

And like the star work weekends people starting lining up to get in the park at like 5:00 pm.
I will be actually working this event so I will have better stories to tell everyone.

Ps… happy birthday Melinda!

I forgot...

So this is Stephanie again and i realized i forgot to talk about the Minnie Mouse ears that Kelsey bought for us. They are in almost every picture we have taken since i got here and everyone asks where we got them, of course i let kelsey answer because i don't really know :) They are the best Minnie Mouse ears ever and i just thought everyone should know .

Stephanie Guest Blog

I'm at disney, visiting Kelsey and "working", kelsey has been staying with me at my hotel room since there is an extra bed which works out swell because now we can catch up on the past few months.

Today we went to Hollywood studios and I got to see where she works which was great, but not as great as the HSM3 show!!! or the magical moment where i wrote a magical message to Cinderella and got a piece of paper that documented this moment and the girl who wrote it was Italian! yay Italy. We took lots of fun pictures which you may or may not see. My favorite part of Hollywood Studios was the tower of terror it was the best ride ever!!!

After that we went to the magic kingdom and saw the parade and went to Cinderella's castle which was of course amazing (not really but in my mind it was) . Then Monique met up with us, i like monique she is great, and we all went to the monsters Inc. comedy show and Phillar magic which was awesome, we also we went to kelsey's favorite buzz lightyear ride and now i owe her ice cream because I lost the game ( but i did pretty well for a first timer)

Kelsey and I tried to find im with grumpy, im with dopey t-shirts at the Magic Kingdom but they didn't have them there and said they didn't sell them anymore at Disney but we know that they do sell them because we saw them at Hollywood Studios earlier today ,but oh well. Oh and we saw the Princesses of course. My first time meeting my favorite Cinderella! so exciting. I am pretty sure we took over 200 pictures by the end of today, some of which only include half of our heads due to the wonderful photography skills of both kelsey and myself :)

So that is the short version of what we did today, now what was i supposed to do today? well that is a different story, see i am supposed to be here for a research conference and well i skipped out on almost everything today opps but its okay because i don't present until tomorrow and i will be there all day . Plus no one goes to a lot of the things we are supposed to go to anyway. Hopefully the kid i am traveling with doesnt tell on me because that is the only way my coordinators will find out because they don't keep track of us at the conference . :)

So basically Disney world and Kelsey are amazing .

Go Obama!!

I just thought I would express how excited I am that barack obama is the president elect and joe biden is going to be vice president.

I have been religiously watching cnn for the past two weeks, going on little sleep, and I am pretty sure I pissed off everyone of my roommate... but I loved ever second of it.

My night consisted of waking up, working out, eating, watching cnn, showing, watching more cnn, and then celebrating.
during the course of the night Pam tried taking the remote away from me when I got up to talk to my mom on the phone and I came back blankly starred at her and asked what she was doing (she wanted to see a big map of the country turning different colors... obviously she had no idea that it takes time) needless to say I made her give me back the remote.

the night followed up with my neighbors and friends thinking I’m crazy for caring about the election... but at the same time they all asked me ridiculous questions that I assumed any American should now (so I guess the one day my major isn't pointless is election day and the one day I actually feel smart is election day)

After obama had about 150 Electoral College votes I knew... well everyone knew he was going to be president... at that time McCain had barely any and Florida, Cali, and all the west coast votes hadn't been counted yet.

It was really weird bc I am not use to seeing elections being over this quickly.

After they officially projected him as the winner vista way went crazy. (I was going crazy in my apt... my roommates thought I was crazy. Of course most of them are republicans.) I walked out side and there were 100’s of people just chanting for obama.
My favorite is when they started chanting "no more bush"
I took some videos to try to put up but the computer I am using wouldn't let me.

After about 20 minutes security came and yelled at us and said that this was an automatic termination. So everyone left.

I went over to Jeremy to watch Obama speech... and it was so surreal. b/c at the moment everyone at vista was complty silent. This showed how everyone actually cared about Obama and the campaign.
I watched his speech about 3 1/2 times through out the night. It was amazing.
I missed McCain speech so I am going to have to youtube it.

After that I went to my neighbors to celebrate and I loved it b/c people who I just meet one or two times wanted to know my opinion b/c they knew I was a political science major. (And once again it made me feel smart!)

We watched some more Cnn and I realized that I have no idea what I am going to do know that the election is over with.
they did a thing where they showed clips from the last 2 years of the campaign season and it made me really sad, bc the majority of the things they showed I remember and was apart of.

I went to bed feeling really good about my self and the country. And there is nothing that could really upset me right now.

And Stephanie is coming up today which is also amazing... not as amazing but close.

Saturday, November 1, 2008

i have realized to day that as soon as the election is over i am going to have nothing to do.

politics have can of been controlling my life for the last year and a half and i am going to have nothing to religiously follow any more.

and as a warning to Stephanie i will hopefully be in an amazing mood wed. when you come but just a warning if Obama doesn't win i may go into a deep depression

i love halloween

i love everything about Halloween. free candy, dressing up, decorating, etc.
and i am a little sad that it is over.

yesterday at work there were lots of people dressed up and i loved every second of it.
i normally see people dressed up like HSM cheerleaders, princess, and during star wars weekend as star wars character.
but on Halloween people don't care were they are at they dress up as anything. even universal characters.

it is amazing.
